Professor Lahiri's research ranges from  cutting-edge brain imaging technology to the overarching theme of investigating the mental representation of the sounds of human language. Her academic honours include the Max Planck Research Award, the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize and the Professor Sukumar Sen Memorial Gold Medal.  She is also a Fellow of the British Academy, an Honorary Life Member of the Linguistic Society of America, and a Fellow of Somerville College.

 Prior to his retirement in 2020, Henning was Professor of Phonetics at the Institute of Phonetics, Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. Recently, he has been collaborating with Prof. Allard Jongman (University of Kansas) to write a practical guide to acoustic phonetics (recording, segmenting, measuring, production & perception experiments, and statistical evaluation). Is the co-inventor of the novel speech recognition system (known as FlexSR) with Professor Aditi Lahiri

Has decades of successfully bringing technology to market including delivering a highly successful voice tech IPO.  Worked with a Major Systems Integrator and Major Financial Institutions Compliance for voice surveillance. Experience in the range of speech recognition from phonetic search to Large Vocabulary Speech Recognition using Neural Networks for hybrid models and the latest end-to-end model-based systems

 Founder in successful high-performance enterprise data processing companies. Built DealHub, which was acquired by Markit in 2015. (Nasdaq: MRKT), a leading global provider of financial information services enabling Markit to offer a comprehensive solution for  FX across venue connectivity, trading services, trade confirmation and management, clearing and regulatory reporting. 

Over 25 years of experience working with ASR and related technologies in various technical roles. A master’s degree in Electrical and computer engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, specialising in digital signal processing and speech technologies. Conducted R&D on speech technologies including speech enhancement, biometrics and ASR 

Oxford University Innovation provides researchers with commercial advice, funds patent applications and legal costs, negotiates third-party licences and spin-out company agreements, and identifies and manages consultancy opportunities for University of Oxford academics. Oxford University Innovation works on projects from all of the University's research divisions:
